Green card lottery?

on the green card lottery website it says that english people are not eligible to win, now, i'm not completely clued up on this so if anyone out there has any helpful info on the green card lottery i would very much appreciate it! serious answers please?

just check from the country list if u r eligable or not.
ok.. i'm British and I have entered this lottery before, but the reason I was able to do so is because my parents are not British and they came from eligible countries. In other words, you can be born in Britain, but if one or either or your parents are from one of the countries which the USA consider to be eligible for application them you can apply. My mum is from Antigua so I applied a couple of times on that basis [albeit unsuccessfully]. Are any of your parents from Ireland.. ? That may be an eligible country although I'm not 100% certain.
