Sleeping tablets on an over night flight?

I am flying to South Africa in a few weeks time - 11hours flight. Is there a sleeping tablet I can take that would not make me feel grotty the next morning? I am on prozac, don't know if that matters?

Answers:
When I flew to South Africa, I took Benadryl, the allergy medicine. It naturally makes you tired, and it was recommended to me at the pharmacy. I had about two eleven hour flights from LA to get to Joburg, and I would take the pill, eat dinner, watch part of the movie, and then be out until breakfast. It was very nice, because I'm not a huge fan of flying!

However, since you are on Prozac, check with the pharmacist or your doctor first before adding any other medications. Prozac can have all kinds of side effects, ESPECIALLY when mixed with other drugs, so please DO NOT take anything before you find out first whether it will affect you! Other than that, have a great flight and enjoy South Africa! :)
Valium. You'll sleep like a baby and feel great when you wake up.
go to your doctor if i were you to ask about it as it can be dody mixing pills have a nice holiday
Of course it matters. I think you should lay off the pills.
valium but i wouldnt really recommend it.
a couple of glasses of wine after checkin will make you naturally tired and sleep through
You can buy nytol at the chemist works a treat but don't no if u should be mixing it with ur happy pills

do not consume alcohol and then take sleeping tablets you can die in your sleep. Please remember the celebs whos son died in his sleep at the hospital can't remember his name.Eat healthy and wear ear plugs and think about your life please
Don't,because you will sleep then find your self back at the start.
I would check with your doctor and find out what is safe to take. Them I would try it once or twice on a weekend before the flight to see how it affects you. That way you can adjust the dosage if necessary.
Hi I went on a long haul to Perth in Australia so 23 hours and I took night nurse tablet and it worked a treat slept 20 hours and I was on Zoroxsat (sic) anti-d tablets and I am alive I think .....
I don't take tablets, but I HATE flying (and I fly at least once a month). So, I use Rescue Remedy. You can get it at pharmacies. It is herbal. Relaxes you and makes you sleep.
Do not take alcohol to make you sleep. I thought I try that once when I was flying back from SA to London. I threw up all over myself and the person next to me. The air hostess explained that it had something to do with the high altitude affecting the blood pressure. It was one of my most embarrassing moments.
I have a friend who swears by Valium. He takes it when they give him the unboard meal. He has no alcohol with that, just juice. He sleeps all the way through, and usually misses breakfast. He only wakes up once the plane has landed and the hostess wakes him.
There are many tablets made, specifically to be taken with anti-depressants. You will however bneed a script for them. Go see your doc.
