How is malta?

I'm going to go to Malta this summer, anyone who have been there? what is worth to visit and how are the people? anything else important to know? How does the weather use to be, what about the capital, is it "modern", big, little, calm, noisy? Can you compare it with an other capital? What languages do they speak, english and maltese right? but what about italy, ho close are they to italy? Are there many people from other countries coming down there, from what countries? would be glad to know. :)

Answers:
dont know where you are coming from, but i can tell you that malta is like no other place i have ever been. im from the USA but at the moment i live in malta. there is tons of history here dating back thousands of years. if you want i would be happy to email you any information you would like to know. english is spoken just about everywhere, its a small place (122 sq miles) crowded, noisy and at the moment quite dirty, its 60 miles from sicily and yes there are lots of students here from various countries.weather in summer very hot, people here are fine, you need to come yourself to form your own opinion as its nothing like you woule imagine from seeing brochures, depending on how old you are your opinion would be different than someone elses.
sorry i got bored after your first question
very nice my wife said so, she spent few years over there
fine-how are you?
I love Malta! Had a holiday there a few years ago and had a great time. Its lovely and hot in the summer and the water is clear. Its a little polluted though. The people are nice and speak some English. Hope u have a great time!
Malta is lovely , interesting and friendly people. Good weather, can be very hot July August. Quite British in culture.
Sights are Valetta and Grand harbour, Mdina the silent city, Mosta dome (where the bomb is supposed to have come through the dome of the church during a mass and the blue lagoon (see by boat trip). Nightlife in St. Julians and Paceville.
Didn't like fact that there were LOTS of timeshare touts.
Overall, a very pleasant place, not pretty but very interesting.
The Maltese peolpe are lovely and very welcoming. The island is beautiful.
Take the bus wherever you need to go, its incredibly cheap and much better than any roller-coaster ride.
its a small capital and the most impressive thing to see is the church of st paul ,ugly on the outside but wow inside the floor is moasic of all the coat of arms of the knights ,
i live in Malta [originally from UK
on the whole the people are friendly .it is pretty Essy to find people who speak English
i was a bit upset about shoe s comment about st Paul's church being ugly on the outside as i worked on restoring the facade about 15 years ago the roads are getting pretty busy these days and their are some bloody awful drivers here so if you hire a car be care full
people tend to either love it here or hate it .you will have to visit to find out for yourself
if you are young go to pace ville ,plenty of bars and a good night life
