Depends on where you are going. The US routes are still "strange" the others have relaxed a little. have a squint here and the answers should be there.
you can every important things! just remember no sharp object, flamable, prohibited drugs. Better if to have only one hand baggage. don't bring to much just bring enough money and by what ever you need. for sure the place you will be visiting have everything..

happy trip! von voyage!!!
you can't take shampoo, conditioner, perfumes, make-up, nail polish remover or perfumes. i was flying from heathrow about a week ago and didn't have any space in my luggage for the shampoo so i decided to take it with me since i had no trouble getting in with it, but once my bag went through the x-ray they confiscated it and threw it away they did the same with my friend toothpaste and deodorant and with a some ladies perfume. better safe then sorry.
Hand luggage size has gone up - still maximum 5 kg though.
Can't take: anything sharp, pointed, liquid or gel based items, any unprescribed medication, no lighters, no toothpaste, cosmetics, make up, water.
You can now take a lipstick in the hard format, no lipgloss.
If you have prescription medication, you must have the box with your name on it as a proof or else it will be confiscated. If you don't require it for the duration of the flight, check it in the hold luggage. No lighters anywhere.
All these can be bought once in the departure lounge.
If you are off to the states, you can take basically nothing (I am exaggerating, but even duty free is off).
When are you flying and which airline?? I might be able to get you some legroom seats.
