Answers:
End of winter, dry, windy and cold.
Cold and wet.
It would seem that August is one of South Africa's Winter months, although not very cold. This is from the link below: 'Keep in mind that the seasons in the southern hemisphere are the opposite of those in the northern hemisphere. Winters are a bit cold but dry, and for the rest of the year Johannesburg is blessed with a beautiful climate. Rainfall is moderate and sunshine is the norm. The average January high is 80 degrees F and the average July low is 23 degrees F.'
well Simon i live in Johannesburg.

August was cold in the first 2 weeks but started warming up towards the end of the month. We did have a few cold snaps though. Also its our windy month (although it was not very windy this year (weird)). We had rain in august which is early this year.
As cold as it gets - sometimes you can't even go outside the house without a t-shirt to keep warm. August is the height of winter and sometimes the temperature drops as low as zero degrees C at night.

Jo-ies is 2000 m above sea-level and in a summer-rainfall area. You will get sunburned if you're an uitlander.

At 2k above sea-level, be wary of the amount of alcohol you consume - you'll be flat on your face on less than half the amount you can normally handle at sea-level.
it is the end of Winter, Spring begins in the first few days of September,so the leaves will be budding and coming back. could still be mildly cold, but not unbearable.
Hi there!

August is the last month of our Winter. It is usually windy but warm. August is most definately in our Winter season. It is usually chilly in the mornings and evenings but warm during the day.

Kim
August is near the end of winter, so it'll still be chilly.
It will be late winter.
Johannesburg does not experience rain in the winter,(it's a summer rainfall region) but in late August it might experience some early spring showers, but these are more common in September.
It will be cold at night, between 5-10 degrees C, but the days will be sunny, so the temp will rise to between 15-20 degrees C.
end of winter.
extremely windy , dry and cold
