A good place to stay is the Regent Palace Piccadilly circus for around £39
I really wouldn't recommend staying in anything "cheapest" in London as it will probably be used by crack whores and drug addicts (I'm serious!). London is expensive and to do it properly you really need a little bit of money. There is an easyhotel in Earls Court which is literally a cupboard and you have to clean it before you leave. It is new and so shouldn't be too bad so you could try that if you want.

Most of the cheaper chains of hotels get more expensive the nearer to the time you want to stay so if you want to book a Holiday Inn express or similar then it's best to book at least 2 months in advance to get the best price.

If you need somewhere straight away you can try

Please be aware that anything under 3 stars in London is going to be pretty grotty.
